Grant opportunity from California Coastal Commission

The California Coastal Commission has just released their request for proposals for the Whale Tail grant program. Supporting projects centered on coastal and marine education, this is a great opportunity for funding your MARE Ocean Immersion! The MARE team is happy to help any school with the writing of their proposal for this wonderful grant program. See the announcement below for more details.

The California Coastal Commission’s WHALE TAIL® Grants Program is accepting proposals for coastal and marine education projects through November 1st.  This program funds projects encouraging people to value and take action to improve the health of California’s coast, marine life, or watersheds that connect with the California coast.  Educational projects improving the quality of beaches or coastal or marine habitats are also eligible.  Emphasis is on reaching underserved students or members of the public.  Nonprofits, schools, and government agencies may apply.  Applicants may request up to $35,000, and 25-50% of the funding will be allocated in small grants below $10,000.  A total of $176,000 will be distributed.  For full guidelines and an application, see the link at www.coastforyou.org or call (800) Coast-4U.
